Baseball in a Classic Sense
You start with a Hall of Famer, Tony Gwynn and his San Diego State Aztecs. Then you add a guy who is a Hall of Famer in our hearts, Ed Sprague and his Pacific Tigers.
Mix in a big-time sponsor—Pacific State Bank, and you’ve got most of the elements for a classic. And that, indeed, is what’s on tap for March 2-4 at Klein Family Field.
The 1st Annual Pacific State Bank Tigers Baseball Classic has the ingredients to be a real treat for baseball fans of all ages. Rounding out the field for the three-days of competition in which each team plays one another, will be the Baylor Bears and the San Francisco Dons, two teams fresh off NCAA Regional tournament seasons.
“When we started putting this together, we didn’t know we would end up with such a great field,” said Sprague. “And then when Pacific State Bank stepped up as our sponsor, it set things up for three great days of baseball.”
An institution in San Joaquin County for 20 years, Pacific State Bank is excited about the opportunity to join forces with Pacific. “We’re proud to be part of the inaugural Tigers Baseball Classic,” said Pacific State Bank president and CEO Steve Rosso, “and we look forward to future events and Pacific State Bank being part of them.”
