Company History
In Fall 2004, Stockton entrepreneurs Ed Brink and Pat Bennett formed Focused Sports & Entertainment, LLC (FSE) in order to take advantage of an immediate opportunity to promote Professional Tournament Golf and with the intent of expanding into other sport promotional opportunities as they arose. Bennett and Brink are the majority owners and Managing Members of FSE, responsible for all aspects of Company operations and strategic direction.

Fundamental to FSE’s sales/business proposition is that every promotion & project be organized, produced and executed to the highest level of integrity and quality and that every sponsorship be fairly priced and provide the participating client sponsor significant commercial value; i.e. marketing, advertising, branding, wholesome customer/employee entertainment and business to business/customer connection opportunities.

In Spring 2005, FSE contracted with the Canadian Professional Golf Tour and The Golf Channel cable television network to bring the Tour to California. Since that time FSE has underwritten and successfully executed seven full field Canadian Tour Tournaments at Brookside Country Club (Stockton CA), Diablo Grande Resort (Patterson CA) and Del Rio Country Club (Modesto CA) all of which were televised internationally by The Golf Channel. Each Tournament had more than forty commercial sponsors, the primary of which were Foster Farm Dairy, The City of Stockton, Diablo Grande Resort, Holt of California, Bank of Agriculture and Commerce, Berberian European Motors, the Port of Stockton to name a few. As a result of those successes, FSE has entered into an exclusive long term agreement with the Tour to promote its Canadian Professional Golf Tour events in most of the Western United States.

The Canadian Professional Golf Tour it is one of seven members of the International Federation of Professional Tours and as such, its players earn World Ranking Points allowing them to gain exemptions into US-PGA Tour and Nationwide Tour events. Canadian Tour graduates have earned in excess of $200 million on the PGA Tour and include such stars as Mike Weir (2004 Masters Champion), Michael Campbell (2005 US Open Champion), Todd Hamilton (2004 British Open Champion), Chris DiMarco (2006 Ryder Cup Team Member), Stuart Appleby (President’s Cup Team Member), Steve Stricker, Notah Begay, Jeff Quinney, (United States Amateur Champion), John Mallinger, etc., etc.

In April 2006, FSE published Tour Talk Magazine focusing on the Tournaments and Canadian Tour players as they pursue their dream of earning PGA Tour Cards.

In May 2006, University of the Pacific retained Focused Sports & Entertainment as its agency of record for Athletic Department sponsorship sales and promotions.
During Athletic year 2006-07, FSE promoted and executed the “Food 4 Less Pacific Invitational presented by BAC & Berberian Motors” (a four-day Division I Intercollegiate Golf Event featuring 12 of the top College/University Teams from throughout the country). The 2007 event will expand to 18 teams. Additionally, FSE promotes Men’s and Women’s athletic team sports including basketball, volleyball, and baseball.

In September 2006, FSE published the inaugural issue of Pacific Digest with a distribution of 10,000 copies. By the summer of 2007 (and 4 issues later), distribution has grown 225% to 22,500 copies per issue. Pacific Digest is published five times during the Athletic Year and distributed to Pacific students, parents, faculty, staff, alumni, and supporters. The Digest features men’s and women’s athletics including in-depth coverage of Pacific teams, coaches, players and upcoming events. The first issue of the 2007-2008 Pacific Digest will “hit-the-street” September 24, 2007 and will feature Women’s Volleyball and includes a preview the Pacific Golf Invitational in addition to its regular feature columns. Subsequent issues will highlight Basketball, Baseball/Softball, and Scholar Athletes concluding with a final Year-in-Review edition.
